Myth: Vaping is the best alternative to smoking
Whilst vaping is safer and the much better option compared to smoking tobacco if you really cannot quit smoking or are not ready to give up yet, it is not without its own harms. Vaping has also been shown to be linked to chronic lung disease, asthma and cardiovascular disease, as well as deaths in >60 people who smoked THC vapes. Vaping has also been shown in research to be linked to the death of brain cells. Vaping liquid still contains chemicals that become harmful once heated up in the e-cigarettes/vapes and are inhaled into the lungs.

By continuing to vape, you are still posing risks to your health and you still have not completely kicked the habit because you have not addressed the underlying reason behind why you smoke. Many people still smoke tobacco whilst vaping or are at risk of still smoking tobacco because of this reason.
If you don’t address the underlying reason behind what drives you want to smoke, ie. your addictive behaviour, there will always be a risk of developing another cross addiction which can be equally destructive and potentially more harmful.
Vaping is also not safe in pregnancy but of course safer than smoking tobacco.
